Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to his community. He was the youngest son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They had him raised on the family farm near Eufala. Two soccer. He is one of the three brothers that participated in the football team of Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. For the three seasons that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as a teacher. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week while he attended college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. In 1988, as an account liaison officer for First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6'2 inches. While he was in college, he was the captain of the 1975 team. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
